Lite Bite – Sweet and Salty Popcorn
I am so excited because the new seasons of Game of Thrones starts this Sunday!!!!
Each season is only 10 episodes long [10 weeks is seriously way too short] and then you have to wait a whole YEAR before the next season comes out. That’s 42 weeks, 7,056 hours, 423,360 minutes and 25,401,600 seconds I will have waited for this Sunday.
To put it in more relatable terms – there have been 5 seasons of the Real Housewives of anything that have aired in that time [<- and is it embarrassing to admit I have watched all 5 seasons].
Anyways, over the years I have learned watching TV is a huge trigger for me to snack.
Popcorn has become one of my snacking staples. You can have a lot for little calories [total win!].
Not the icky oil & trans fat filled popcorn that you put in the microwave [more info why you should ditch that here], but air popped popcorn.
I do not own a air popped popcorn maker so I have to buy it pre-made.
My favorite brand is Skinny Pop. They have four flavors original [<- my fav], naturally sweetened, white cheddar and black pepper.
I like adding sweet items to the original flavor because this makes it feel more like a dessert treat rather than a salty snack. And who doesn’t love a sweet and salty combo?
I love mixing it with dark chocolate chips and unsweetened shredded coconut. The coconut sticks to all of the popcorn so every bite is a mixture of sweet and salty and then on the bites you get a piece of chocolate – OMG, it is an amazzzing explosion in your mouth.
You know how some things just go together – ketchup & mustard, Blair & Chuck, fro-yo & sprinkles, well popcorn, dark chocolate & coconut should be added to the list.
This sweet and salty popcorn is a perfect lil treat for mindlessly munching while watching your fav show aka Game of Thrones.
In total this snack is less than 200 calories. Just make sure your portion out everything. Portion control is huge for any healthy lifestyle.
