FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Kids First Pediatric Alliance Names Wang Healthcare “Preferred Vendor”
IPA Evaluates Several EMRs Before Recommending Wang To Its Groups
Wang Healthcare announced today that the Kids First Pediatric Alliance has selected Wang Healthcare as the new Preferred Vendor for an EMR product for its 35 Atlanta, Georgia area medical groups. The physician practices within the Kids First Pediatric Alliance serve over 50% of the Atlanta pediatric population with their 164 physicians in 50 locations. Wang Healthcare will work closely with each group to discuss how the EMR will work in its individual practice and with existing systems. As a result, the Kids First Pediatric Alliance and its quality management committee will now have a tool that’s flexible enough to work for all its groups and how they practice medicine.
“Many of our independent medical practices were already evaluating EMR products so we formed a subcommittee to assist them. In addition, our quality management committee saw the ambulatory EMR as the best way over the long term to track quality measures across the groups that comprise the Kids First network,” said Tom Finnerty, COO at Kids First Pediatric Alliance. “We needed a cost-effective and flexible vendor to assist us in accomplishing both goals; after a lengthy 10 month evaluation process we chose Wang Healthcare as the Kids First Preferred Vendor.”
In selecting a Preferred EMR Vendor, Kids First Pediatric Alliance considered six key criteria: workflow, flexibility, ease of use, documentation quality, reporting capability, and cost of implementation. The Wang Healthcare EMR stood out as the EMR product that performed very well in each of these areas and particularly in the area of support to the Kids First IPA. After analyzing two additional factors, the available pediatric content and the availability of an ASP delivery model, a decision was made to elect Wang Healthcare as the most preferred vendor.
As part of the EMR evaluation process, the search included site visits to EMR-enabled groups. The committee was looking for a system that was flexible and customizable enough to fit with how its providers practice medicine. “We found that Wang Healthcare was willing to work with our organization and flexible enough to partner with us to develop documentation and evaluation criteria,” says Finnerty.
“Our quality management committee continually strives to track quality initiatives. A few years ago we actually paid nurses to pull charts as we conducted an adolescent immunization study. With an EMR, this would have been a much easier process,” said Finnerty. “We look forward to working with the groups in the Kids First Pediatric Alliance,” says Jack Bradbury, CEO of Wang Healthcare and Physician Strategies, LLC. “The extensive evaluation process used by Kids First further validates the strength of the physician-focused Wang Healthcare EMR.”
